The Skinny on Malting 'n' Brewing

Hey, this is the heart of the beer we’re talking about here. The basic ingredient that helps gives your brew its unique flavor, color and body.

Technically speaking, malt provides the complex carbohydrates and sugars that are needed for fermentation. It comes from barley, a cereal grain. But you already know that.

Of course, we could go on and on about what goes into a great malt. Spend 130 years perfecting it, and, well, you pick up a thing or two.

Which explains why we’ve provided a little of what we know here. A few resources to help you better understand the malting process, some brewing tips…even a few technical presentations our staff has given in the field that answer questions we're often asked.  Just choose from one of the options to the left.

After all, malting and brewing knowledge is kinda like beer. Half the fun is sharing.
